Mr. Long Yongtu graduated from English Department of Guizhou University,. From 1973 to 1974, he studied at postgraduate School of the London School of Economics, , received an honorary doctorate in economics. From 1978 to 1986, he worked in the China's United Nations delegation and the UNDP. Mr. Long returned to China in 1986. From 1986 to 2003 he served as Deputy Director-general of China International Center for Economic and Technical Exchanges, Director-general of Department of International Relations of MOFTEC, Assistant Minister and Vice Minister of the Ministry. From January 1995 to September 2001, he served as chief negotiator and worked in the first line, ultimately successful ending fifteen years of China's WTO accession negotiations. From January 2003 to July 2010, he served as Secretary-General of Boao Forum for Asia, since July 2010, he worked as member of International Advisory Committee of Boao Forum.
