厉以宁教授，祖籍江苏仪征，1930年11月出生于南京。1955年毕业于北京大学经济系。毕业后留校工作。现任北京大学社会科学学部主任、北京大学光华管理学院名誉院长、十一届全国政协常委、全国政协经济委员会副主任

厉以宁教授在经济学理论方面著书多部，并发表了大量文章，是我国最早提出股份制改革理论的学者之一。他提出了中国经济发展的非均衡理论，并对"转型"进行理论探讨，这些都对中国经济的改革与发展产生了深远影响。厉以宁教授还主持了《证券法》和《证券投资基金法》的起草工作。

Professor Li Yining, whose ancestral home is Yizhen, Jiangsu Province, was born in Nanjing in November, 1930. In 1955, He graduated from Department of Economics of Peking University. He worked for Peking University after graducation. Currently, he serves as Director of social science division, Peking University; honorary President of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University;11th Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference standing committee as well as deputy director of the economic commission of Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference. Li wrote many books on economic science and published massive journals. He is one of the first few Chinese scholar who initiated shareholding system reform theory. He also initiated the disequilibrium theory of China's economic development and undertook theoretical discussions on the "transformation". These fundings profundly influenced China's economic reform and development. Li also presided over the drafting of the securities law and the law on securities investment funds.
