美国哈佛大学经济学博士，曾任美国高盛投资银行经济研究执行董事，瑞士日内瓦- 达沃斯世界经济论坛首席经济学家与研究部主管。1991年至1996年间任国际货币基金组织(IMF)官员，先后供职于亚太局、财政事务局和研究局，从事经济研究，参与对许多成员国政府的宏观经济政策磋商与技术援助工作。其研究领域包括宏观经济学、公共财政、国际贸易与金融理论。其研究成果之一《全球竞争力报告》在国际上具有广泛影响。从1996年4月起至今兼任清华大学经济管理学院教授与中国经济研究中心主任。

Dr Hu earned an PhD in Economics from Harvard University. He was former chief economist at Goldman Sachs and chief economist and director of research center, World Economic Forum. He also served as a staff member at the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC during 1991-1996 where he was engaged in macroeconomic research and policy consultations for a number of member country governments including China. Dr Hu has published widely on economics and financial markets. His research areas include macro-economics, public finance, international trade and finance theory.
