Prof. Christopher Pissarides specializes in the field of economics of unemployment, labor-market theory and policy and structural change. He has written extensively in professional journals and his book Equilibrium Unemployment Theory has been an important reference in the economics of unemployment.
In 2011 he will be the President of the European Economic Association. He is also an elected Fellow of many international Academic societies. Outside academia he served as a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Cyprus and also a consultant on employment policy and other macroeconomic issues for the World Bank, the European Commission and the OECD.
Graduated from the University of Essex,he has spent bulk of his career in London School of Economics, where he has also been a visiting scholar at the Universities of Harvard, Princeton, Berkeley, and the World Bank.
